This is the website of the Australian guitarist and singer/ songwriter; John Batley. Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, John began playing harmonica as a young boy, moving on to the guitar by age 12. He loved listening to his father's Duane Eddy records, and practiced himself for hours at a time. John's musical influences include Blues, Folk, Rock, Jazz, Country, Latin American,and Pop music. It is difficult to pigeon hole John's personal style of music, however it has been classed as Folk Rock, and Jazz Roots. John Batley often plays solo( vocals, guitar, harmonica), however has played and does play with some tremendous musicians and singers. These include:
Josh Payne(Percussion,Drums): Josh and John have played much together as an acoustic duo. Josh's dynamic playing has wowed audiences wherever he goes.
Rhys Hood(Bass): Rhys is a brilliant acoustic bass player who can be heard on the CD "Acoustic Live" with Josh and John.
Scott Green(Bass): Scott is another great musician who has played around the Queensland music scene for many years. He is a top guitarist, bassist and vocalist and has spent a fair amount of time playing gigs with John and Josh.
Matt Morgan(Drums): Matt's energetic drumming can be heard on old EP's floating around including "Days Gone Bye".Matt is an amazing talent.
M.T.Toom: John played with James Lowe(vocals), Ben Cue(bass), Stephen Schravemade(drums), Richard Gourley(keyboards), and James Graham(guitar) way back when. They were known around the traps as much for their stage antics as their music. Tricks included flying foxes, fireworks, motorbikes, abseiling, and Richard falling over on stage.
Andrew Beckett and Reconciled: John, Ben, Matt, and Richard joined forces with Andrew Beckett for a time to perform Andrew's original works. Andrew is a very gifted singer/ songwriter who now resides in Murgon, Qld.

John has also accompanied numerous national and international artists, and has won and been nominated for a number of awards.

Cambodian Orphans: Since a 2002 trip to Cambodia, John has had a passion for the orphanage he visited and for the people of that country. He writes, " My eyes have been opened to the real life need of so many, including the homeless and down trodden in our country of Australia. Visiting Cambodia forced a change in my thinking which needed to happen. No longer can I sit around complaining about my own circumstances and feeding my own selfishness."
